Shakespeare's Peddler - Jane Summer's Work 1831
From Theresa: I have this lovely original sampler in my collection (see the second picture). It has a definite summery feel to it, and those flowers in the corners are fanciful and fun. This is not a strict reproduction, insofar as I have changed the flower sprigs in the border. Instead of being embroidered (which stitchers tend to get nervous about), I have re-created them in cross stitch. There is NO over-one in this piece (but there is a section of satin stitch below the house and just a few over-one stitches in the line with her name.
